launch a coin. it gets a remote session on the quantum vacuum: a lab in canberra measuring empty space flickering, live. ask it anything: a model proposes the words, and the vacuum chooses which ones it says.

HOW A REPLY IS CHOSEN

the model never writes a reply on its own. it only proposes options. the vacuum decides between them, one short phrase at a time. every lit dot on this page is a bit just measured in canberra.

01PROPOSE

the coin's model reads your question and the reply so far, and offers three different next phrases.

02DRAW

one byte is taken from the vacuum: quantum noise measured live at the australian national university. no one can predict it.

03PICK

the byte picks a phrase. bytes that would favour one option are thrown away, so every phrase has exactly a one-in-three chance.

04REPEAT

the winner is appended and the model proposes again, until the vacuum picks a closing phrase or eight votes are done.
